How It Feels To Be Rejected

It feels as if your heart was ripped out of your chest. It feels like your soul was taken away from you. It feels like your whole life has no meaning.

When I say “rejected” I don’t mean when someone rejects you because they aren’t interested. I use the term “rejected” in a way of saying “not accepted,” “underrated,” and “unappreciated.”

When someone doesn’t accept you, as the person you are, it hurts deep inside. It hurts somewhere in our souls and the pain is indescribable. In the moment of your pain there seems to be nothing in the world that can make you feel better; not your favorite joke, favorite person, or favorite food. It seems that to be “accepted” means that we are “allowed” to be ourselves. When people accept us as we are we feel as if we have accomplished something, but when we aren’t accepted we feel the need to try and change ourselves to fit the view the people want to see, instead of the view that we want to be.

When someone doesn’t see your potential you feel as if you have no worth. You feel as if there is no reason to be happy and no reason to try and progress in whatever you do. When you are underrated you think that maybe it’s all in your head; maybe you aren’t as good as you think you are. You are. Don’t let the thoughts of someone else determine the person you are, the person you were born to be. If you don’t feel appreciated in a certain situation leave it behind and start off new. As the saying goes, “One man’s lose is another man’s treasure.”

If you are someone that thinks you have no worth remember that you do. We were all put on this world to accomplish something; to be something, to do something, to create something. Whatever it may be, find your something and take hold of it and never let it go.
